About Me

Hi, I’m Anita—a ceramic artist now based in Seattle, recently relocated from Chicago where I was born and raised.
I first discovered ceramics in 2012 through a high school hand-building class, and I didn’t fall in love with it right away. I wasn’t very good at it, and as a first-generation Chinese American, pursuing art was often seen as impractical.
Still, I kept finding my way back to clay throughout college and after. I enjoyed it, but never fully committed—making only a piece or two each class without the time or space to really grow. It wasn’t until April 2023, when I took another wheel-throwing class, that something shifted. This time, I chose to invest in it fully.
That moment marked the beginning of Glossy Clay Studio, and of documenting my ceramics journey.
Today, I create minimal, functional ceramic ware—matcha bowls, tea cups, and vases—exploring subtle, playful glazes and unique textures. Each piece is designed to bring warmth and intention to everyday living.
This new chapter in Seattle feels like a reintroduction—not just to a new city, but to my practice and the way I want to share it.
Thank you for being here, and for all the support and love.
