About Me

Hello I’m Anita, a ceramic artist based in Chicago!

A little about me, I discovered ceramics in 2012 through a high school hand-sculpting class and actually didn’t immediately fall in love with it! I was terrible at it and as a first gen Chinese-American, spending time on art was deemed a waste of time and money.

But I found myself revisiting ceramics in college and post-college. I found it fun but never really made much, maybe one or two pieces every class. I never had the time to invest energy into it so it never really clicked — until April 2023 where I found myself taking a second wheel-throwing class determined to invest the time I always wanted to towards ceramics.

That was when I started Glossy Clay Studio and documenting my ceramics journey. I love creating minimalistic functional ceramic ware such as matcha bowls, tea cups, vases; experimenting with subtle, playful glazes and unique textures, my pieces are meant to warm up daily living.

Thanks for visiting and for all the support & love!
